Quality education is one of the priority goals of the UN Sustainable Development. After all, the world cannot change for the better without trained and progressive thinking professionals who will set themselves radical and ambitious tasks.
The process of reforming the education system has been going on in Ukraine for five years – since the adoption of the Law on Higher Education in 2014. Subsequently, the project of the New Ukrainian School, which should modernize the secondary education system according to European models started. However, the effectiveness of the domestic system as such still causes much debate. For instance, due to the results of the International Student Assessment Program released in December 2019, Ukrainian students ranked only 39 out of a possible 50.
Who should be the stakeholder and the driving force behind education reform – the state, civil society or the corporate sector? What is missing from Ukraine in order to achieve a high level of educational efficiency of its neighbors in the region – Poland and Estonia? How should a country’s education system be built to respond dynamically to technological changes and new requests from global employers? These questions will be highlighted in the Education ID panel.
